    1. Hi Jeanette,

      The sentence was as follows:

WE STUDENTS ARE GOOD AT ADAPTING TO CONFUSING CLASSES AND BAD AT LEARNING ANTHROPOLOGY.

      Very close. Great job!

    2. Whinera,
Did you go back and edit your strand after you had first posted it?
      Ms. Rodriguez,
I am almost sure the strand listed isn't the original strand I was working off of because looking at this one it doesn't seem right. I will check my computer when I get home and email you the strand that I worked off of. I did everything the same as in mine.

    3. Thank you, j lara. I would appreciate seeing your entire decode (or at least the original strand) so that I can score it correctly for you.

  2. I am very confused as to how j lara decoded this. The first word in the sentence is "We" which is GUG in RNA. That codes to CAC in DNA, but I don't see that triplet anywhere in the original strand.

The second word "students" is AUU in RNA and codes to TAA in DNA. Again, I don't see this in the original code above. That word cannot be decoded from the original strand of DNA.

I am going to post my decode below. It makes no sense, but using the system of translation and transcription, and without start/stop codons, this is what it decodes to. Wrobs818, I would appreciate a more detailed explanation of how you decoded your sentence from the DNA above. Thanks!

    DNA: TCCGUATGGTGATTCTCGCCGGTCGGTTGGCGAGATCAGCAGGTCGTAACTAGGUCCA
    RNA: AGGCAUACCACUAAGAGCGGCCAGCCAACCGCUCUAGUCGUCCAGCAUUGAUCCAGGU
Codons: AGG CAU ACC ACU AAG AGC GGC CAG CCA ACC GCU CUA GUC GUC CAG CAU UGA UCC AGG U (with no start codons, triplets are formed from the beginning of the strand.)

  3. Ok, I see what I did. Unfortunately I had more than one version of the strand and my attempt to correct the initial post resulted in my adding one of the older versions. My original post was the one that I actually corrected. I apologize for the confusion. I have to chalk it up to the flu that I'm struggling through. I edited my post to reflect my initial strand so that Professor Rodriguez can see what Jeannette decoded. Sorry for the confusion.

  4. Okay, we're on the right track here! The only remaining issue is that you have posted your RNA instead of your DNA, but at least it codes to the correct sentence.

I took your sentence yesterday and reverse coded it to get the DNA code that should have been posted. I have listed it below. Notice that the RNA matches what you have posted up above (excluding the random bases which I have marked with "X's".)

WE STUDENTS ARE GOOD AT ADAPTING TO CONFUSING CLASSES AND BAD AT LEARNING ANTHROPOLOGY.
